Our Breeds
As we are all aware, goats are remarkably resilient animals that can adapt to varying temperatures. Our goats at Aravinth Goat Farms are no exception, as they breathe in the fresh and pure air of Kollimalai hills, which contributes to their overall health and strength. With a wide variety of goat breeds available, it's important to choose the right breed for your specific needs. Some goat breeds are best suited for meat production, while others excel in milk production, and there are even breeds that can produce both meat and milk. For those looking to produce both meat and milk, selecting a dual-purpose breed is an excellent option.
At Aravinth Goat Farms, we are proud to offer both meat and dairy-producing goats, including dual-purpose breeds like Sirohi, Black Beetal, as well as exotic breeds such as Boer and Tellicherry. Each breed requires different levels of care and attention, and our knowledgeable workers conduct thorough research and consult with experts to determine the best practices for each breed. To ensure the overall health of our goats, we provide them with regular vitamins and supplements, especially during the weaning period.

Boer
Once upon a time in 1959, Afrikaner farmers in South Africa began breeding a new kind of goat, the Boer goat. They crossed various European and Indian breeds with those raised by Bantu and Khoekhoe people to create a goat that was specifically selected for meat production. The result was the Boer goat, which quickly became one of the most popular meat goat breeds in the world.
Boer goats are known for their large size, with males weighing in at 110-135 kg and females at 90-100 kg. They are the largest breed of goat and are easily recognized by their white bodies and brown heads, with two long pendulous ears falling on the sides. Boer goats are also characterized by their docile nature, fast growth, and high fertility rates. It's no wonder they are so highly sought after for their meat.
These goats are natural grazers and will eat a variety of things including leaves from trees, green grasses, and corn. They require plenty of water to maintain their healthy diet, which is important for their overall growth and well-being. Boer goats are also known for their ability to adapt to any temperature or climate, making them a popular choice for farmers around the world.
At our farm, we recognize the unique qualities of Boer goats and their potential for producing high-quality meat. That's why we crossbreed Boer goats with other popular goat breeds like Sirohi, Tellicherry, and more to produce kids that are not only of good weight, but also have exceptional meat quality. We take great care in selecting the best breeds for crossbreeding, and our workers research and consult with experts to ensure each goat receives the best care possible.
So if you're looking for the best meat goat breed around, look no further than the Boer goat. With their size, docile nature, and high fertility rates, these goats are sure to impress. And at our farm, we're dedicated to producing the best crossbreeds to meet your needs.

Sirohi
Welcome to our breed section! Here, we provide information about the Sirohi, an Indian breed of domestic goat that we raise at our farm.
The Sirohi goat originated from the Sirohi district of Rajasthan and is known for its brown-colored coat with patches of light to dark brown. They have medium-sized, drooping ears that are flat and leaf-like, and both male and female Sirohi goats have curvy horns. They come in two different body types: cylindrical-shaped ones are believed to be good for meat production, while the ones with the conical body are considered to be good for milk production.
This breed of goat is versatile and is raised for both meat and milk production. Sirohi goats can provide up to 500 ml of milk every day and there is a 60% chance that the female can give birth to 2 kids at a time. The lactation period in Sirohi goats is about 4 months. They are well suited for stall feeding and semi-stall feeding, and mainly prefer to eat protein-rich fodder that gives them energy.
Adult male Sirohi goats weigh about 50 kg, while adult females weigh about 40 kg. An adult male grows to a length of 80 cm, while an adult female grows to a length of 60 cm. These goats are resistant to major diseases and can adapt to different climatic conditions, especially hot temperatures. We ensure our Sirohi goats are protected against Clostridia diseases by giving them CDT or CD&T vaccines as core vaccinations.
At our farm, we take pride in raising high-quality Sirohi goats. If you're interested in learning more about our breeding program or want to purchase a Sirohi goat, please contact us to schedule a visit.

Black Beetal
Black Beetals, a breed of domestic goats that originated from Punjab and is mostly found in the state of Haryana. These goats are highly valued for their meat and milk production, as well as their high-quality skin, which is used to produce leather products such as shoes, gloves, velour, and suede.
Black Beetals have a compact and well-developed body with long legs, pendulous ears, and a short, thin tail. The males of this breed have long, twisting horns, adding to their unique appearance. They are capable of producing a pair of kids every year, making them a popular choice among farmers.
These goats have a diverse diet and can eat almost all types of plants, leaves, and grasses. They have long and pendulous ears, short and thin tails, and backward-curved horns. Male Black Beetals also have beards, which adds to their unique look. While these goats are smaller when compared to other breeds such as Jamunapari, they are highly valued for their meat, milk, and skin quality.
At our farm, we take pride in raising Black Beetals and other goat breeds, ensuring that they receive proper care and nutrition. Contact us to learn more about our Black Beetals and other breeds, and how you can acquire them for your farm.
Tellicherry
The Tellicherry, also known as Malabar goats, are native to the coastal regions of Kerala and are recognized as a breed in Tamil Nadu as well. These goats are bred primarily for meat, although their skin is also valuable. They come in white, black, or piebald colors, with shorter ears and legs and larger testicles than the Beetal goat.
Adult males of this breed weigh an average of 40 kg, while females weigh an average of 30 kg. They are excellent milk producers, yielding 1-2 liters of thicker milk per day. The Tellicherry goat has impressive reproductive capabilities, with twinning and even triplets being possible. In fact, triplets are more common in this breed. These goats can be fed coconut oil cakes and jack leaves.
At our farm, we crossbreed Tellicherry goats with Boer goats to produce high-quality, good-weight kids. These goats are adaptable to Indian culture, making them a great choice for anyone looking to raise goats in India.
